Course Description:
The goal of this class to help the artist/manager/technician who is ready to tour understand the basics of what they need to actually be ready to tour. We will provide a springboard to help the student understand what kind of questions they need to find the answers to, and help identify who in their professional life will have these answers for them. Additionally, it will give them the basic vocabulary to speak tour, and be understood by the venue staff they'll be working with.
Bio:
Zac Crofford is a puppeteer, designer, fabricator, multi-disciplinary artist, and general
roustabout based out of Austin, Texas. He has toured nationally for the past 8 years, and
performed in regional and new works for the last 25+. His own work has been presented at
venues ranging from the E3 expo to the Kennedy Center, and often focuses on thrusting the
audience into the role of puppeteer, demonstrating that puppetry is an intrinsic element of
human existence.
He comes from a long line of giant statues, and traces his origins as an artist to energetic
rustic dance, and the minute details of physical theater in the middle of broad spectacle.
He has been lucky enough to earn an award or two for his art and performance, but
probably not the ones you’re thinking of.
